Food & Farming

By getting children ‘Earthwise’, experiencing the journey of food from seed to harvest to plate we believe that we can re-connect children with the beauty of food and encourage healthier eating habits.

Earthwise are working in partnership with The Community Farm to offer a great Learning Programme for School visits. The Community Farm is a real working, Organic farm in Chew Magna which has a yurt on-site as a sheltered learning space.

Our School Visits to The Community Farm support all aspects of the Cooking and Nutrition subject content within the National Curriculum.

We offer 'Field to Fork' learning experiences where children get the opportunity to explore where their food comes from; how it is grown; the importance of organic, local produce and even get their hands dirty harvesting their own vegetables to prepare a seasonal snack!

We work with teachers to tailor your day trip to complement what you are exploring in-school.

What Schools say about us...

We thoroughly enjoyed the day, both adults and children alike. We went with the purpose of understanding where our food comes from, the importance of healthy food and what is needed to maintain growth. All of these objectives were addressed and the practical, tangible experience of seeing for themselves how the food grows, helped the children appreciate all the processes involved more fully. The best part by far was allowing the children to hand pick a selection of products, prepare them for a salad – and eat the fruits of their labour for lunch! And, of course, the freedom of playing in the great outdoors – it’s a great location with fantastic scenery.
