SOLD OUT: Half-term Farm & Forest Fun!

Our Farm & Forest School returns this half-term so come and let your little ones run wild!

Thursday 15th February, 10am-3pm
Friday 16th February, 10am-3pm

What's in store...

Two days of outdoor fun for children aged 5-7!

Day 1 is spent at The Community Farm, a beautiful Organic farm with yurt, over-looking Chew Valley Lake. We'll get the chance to harvest crops from the field and cook up a seasonal snack in our yurt! We'll also be getting stuck into a natural craft project for the kids to take home with them. Examples of other activities include tracking, pond-dipping, mini-beast hunting and general farm frolics!

Day 2 will be our Forest School day, within a nearby private woodland. Children will get the opportunity to explore the woodland, harvest natural materials and learn how to use hand-tools for their own woodcraft project. We'll cook snacks over a campfire, play woodland games and have fun :-)

It's the perfect antidote the the school classroom!

In addition to facilitating planned activities we always ensure that the days are also very child-led, encouraging them to explore, play, make and learn, both independently and together as a group.

Flo had great fun and chatted non stop about each day when she got home. She is very proud of her achievements, particularly the cooking, learning to saw wood and make a necklace, the campfire, popcorn and making the den - she clearly really enjoyed herself. Very inspirational...
— Parent feedback

NB. If your children have attended previous Farm and Forest Fun days with us, rest assured that we always run new activities to keep it fresh and exciting and in-line with the seasons.

This event is for children aged 5-7 years old however we do welcome siblings that fall slightly outside this age-bracket. We always work with a maximum of 8 children and a small age-range to ensure that activities are made hands-on and achievable for the whole group.

Can't commit to two days?

We encourage parents to book two days since this really helps the children build in confidence, build a relationship with one another and with us as facilitators. If you are unable to commit to both days we do offer one-day bookings, subject to availability. Email to register your interest for a one-day booking.

If you're keen to get your kids outside and re-connected with food and the natural world then this is the perfect opportunity!

Recommend a friend and you both receive 10% off your booking! More info below.

Our Forest School Leader

Our Farm & Forest School is run by Claire Rosling from Earthwise who is a qualified and experienced Forest School Leader. Claire runs all of the children's activity days and educational visits to The Community Farm. She is first aid trained and is DBS checked. All volunteer helpers present on the day are also DBS checked. If you have any queries about the day then please contact

Our Farm & Forest Fun days are being held in the glorious Chew Valley. Click here to see both locations on a map.

Detailed directions will be sent within order confirmation emails.

Two day booking: £55 (includes snacks prepared by the children & hot choc)

To ensure children get the most from their experience, we limit our activities to a maximum of 8 children so book early to avoid disappointment.

Do I drop children off or do parents stay?   Parents drop children off for the day. The day is run by Claire Rosling (founder of Earthwise) and a volunteer, both of whom hold recent DBS checks.

Isn't it a bit cold to be outside all day in February?  In colder months we ensure children are kept warm by keeping active, having campfires and warm drinks. We also send parents clear guidelines on appropriate clothing (number of layers etc) for the day.

  • Recommend a friend and you both receive 10% off your booking! Email with your names and we'll let you know the discount code.

Toilet Facilities

Since the Forest School (Day 2) is out in the wild woods we have no permanent toilet facilities on site and so will be providing a temporary, private (and hygienic) latrine that we will show children how to use. A great skill to learn for wild camping! Hand-washing facilities will be provided. A portaloo and handwashing is provided at the farm (Day 1).

Cancellation policy

If for whatever reason you need to cancel your booking, we offer a 50% refund up to one week prior to the course date. For cancellations with less than one week’s notice you will only receive a 50% refund if we can find someone to take your place.
