Let your kids run wild!
What's in store...
Two days of fun in the forest for 5-8 year olds* on Wed 7th & Thur 8th August in a private woodland and meadow in Chew Stoke.
Over the two days children will have the opportunity to safely use a range of hand-tools for green-wood working, crafting something to take home; cook snacks over the fire; use a fire-striker to light a fire, play woodland games, get physical on the rope swings, rope ladders, hammock; get messy in the mud kitchen and explore!
This half-term there will also be a halloween twist... Not too spooky we promise!
It's the perfect antidote the the school classroom!
As Forest School leaders, we ensure the days are as child-led as possible - encouraging the children to explore, play, make and learn, with whatever sparks their interest, both independently and together as a group.
"Flo had great fun and chatted non stop about each day when she got home. She is very proud of her achievements, particularly the cooking, learning to saw wood and make a necklace, the campfire, popcorn and making the den - she clearly really enjoyed herself. Very inspirational..."
This event is for children aged 5-8 years old however we do welcome siblings that fall slightly outside this age-bracket (NB. all 4 year olds must be 'school age'). We always work with a maximum of 12 children and a small age-range to ensure that activities are made hands-on and achievable for the whole group.
Our Forest Fun days will be held in a private woodland in Chew Stoke, over-looking Chew Valley Lake. Chew Stoke is approximately 8 miles south of Bristol city centre. Detailed directions will be sent within order confirmation emails.
£55 (plus booking fee) for 2 days of outdoor adventure.
Group size is limited to 12 children.
Campfire snack included :-)
A sibling discount of 10% can be applied by using the promotional code SIBLING (the 10% dicount is applied to the total order, ie. both sibling tickets)
Can't commit to two days?
We design our Forest Fun experiences as two day events so that the children are able to bond with each other, with us as facilitators and with the woodland around them. There is a profound difference in the way the group approach each other and the environment when they attend for two consecutive days - we see the value in this and so make two day bookings a priority. If there is availability then we may open up one-day bookings a week or two before the event. Please register your interest by emailing email@example.com if you are unable to commit to both days.
The sessions will be facilitated by Claire Rosling and Dimitri Vandebroek. Claire is the founder of Earthwise and has run Farm & Forest Fun sessions for the last 5 years in partnership with The Community Farm. Claire also runs the educational visits and children's activities at The Community Farm. She has over 6 years experience of leading Forest School sessions and also runs seasonal Family Natural Craft days and Family Pick & Cook days at The Community Farm. Claire is DBS checked, paediatric first aid qualified and is Food Safety trained.
Dimitri is also Level 3 Forest School trained and DBS checked.
Do I drop children off or do parents stay?
Parents drop children off for both days. Timings of both days are 10am-3pm.
We'll be out in the wild woods without any permanent toilet facilities and so will be providing a temporary, private (and hygienic) latrine that we will show children how to use. A great skill to learn for wild camping! Hand washing facilities are provided.
If for whatever reason you need to cancel your booking, we offer a refund up to one week prior to the course date. Unfortunately eventbrite does not refund the booking fee.
Dangerous weather including high winds, electrical storms and ice may force us to cancel the event. In this case and other 'Acts of God' we are unable to issue refunds however we can give you a credit towards booking another event with us in the future. If we need to cancel for any other reason we will issue you a full refund.
